Indian Oil continue as co-sponsors of Kalinga Lancers

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) continued to be the co-sponsor of Kalinga Lancers, the Odisha team for Hockey India League by providing an amount of Rs 1 crore for the for fourth edition of the tournament, starting here at Kalinga Stadium on January 18.

On behalf of IOCL, Ramjee Ram, Executive Director (In-charge) of Paradip Refinery Project, handed over co-sponsorship cheque to IDCO CMD Sanjeev Chopra here at IDCO office today. Chopra is also the chairman of Odisha Sports Development Promotion Company (OSDPC), which manages the Kalinga Lancers team.

Paradip Refinery Project General Manager (HR), W R Borbora was present on the occasion. It may be noted that IndianOil had co-sponsored Kalinga Lancers team in the two previous seasons of Hockey India League in 2014 and 2015.  

Indian Oil boast of having 13 Arjuna Awardees including badminton legend P Gopichand, amongst its glittering squad of sports stars. The public sector company has been championing cause of sports development for over three decades now. In line with the sports policy it adopted in 1985, the corporation has over the years, recruited many promising sportspersons, who have gone on to reach their peak in their chosen disciplines.

Since 2006, Indian Oil has also been conferring sports scholarships to promising young sports persons representing the State in indoor and outdoor games. The scheme which started in 2006 with 55 scholarships in seven sports disciplines has now been augmented to offer 150 scholarships for 19 disciplines to upcoming junior players between 14 -19 years of age.
